Man posing as doctor arrested for sexual assault

A man who is accused of sexually assaulting two women while pretending to be doctor has been arrested by Provo police. Borzin Mottaghian, 34, of Provo, has been arrested in connection to a case where two separate women have given "virtually identical" accounts of sexual assault, leading police to believe there are more victims out there who have yet to come forward. According to the allegations Mottaghian lured the women in through Craigslist, where his ad promised reimbursement for participation in medical research.  The victims claim he told them he was developing a new form of catheter, and had the women sign several forms before "taking measurements" in ways that made them feel very uncomfortable. The women were told to undress from the waist down and then had photos taken of them, before being examined by Mottaghian with both his hands and some steel instruments.

The alleged incidents took place on Oct. 18 and Oct. 20, with the latter victim being the first to report what happened to police. She went to a nearby hospital for a sexual assault examination afterwards as she suspected she had been violated sexually. Investigators went undercover with Mottaghian to document and verify the claims against him. He introduced himself as a doctor and went through the same narrative of what he had told the previous women regarding a medical exam, before served with a search warrant and taken into custody. He has been booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of object rape and forcible sexual abuse. While he posted the initial bail payment of $25,000 cash and was released, he has been booked back into jail on a $250,000 cash bail after the second women went to police regarding what he'd done to her.."

Anyone who believes they may have been victimized is asked to contact Utah County sheriff's detectives at 801-851-4010 or Utah Valley Dispatch at 801-794-3970.
