Man hospitalized after crashing stolen car

A man suspected of stealing a vehicle with an infant in the back seat is still in the hospital as of Sunday evening. The 21-year-old man, who remains unidentified, sustained injuries in a car crash during an attempt to outrun police. The carjacking happened around 9 p.m. Saturday when a woman who left her 1-year-old son in a vehicle while she went to knock on the door of a residence on that street. A man then jumped inside the car and took off, with the infant still in the back seat. Despite now being on the run, the boy was found safe about 30 minutes later at an Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, after nurses called police and informed them he had been dropped off at the facility.

The man was eventually located later Saturday night in the stolen vehicle. When they attempted to stop him the man kept driving. The chase ended about ten blocks from where it started when the man crashed into a median in the center of the road, and sustained "non-life-threatening injuries." He was transported to a nearby hospital in good condition. Upon his release it is expected he will be booked into jail for investigation of kidnapping, stealing a vehicle and fleeing, and any other outstanding warrants unrelated to the events of Saturday evening.
