Brian head fire grows massively overnight

A fire that was sparked with the use of a weed torch under dry weather conditions has now tripled as of Wednesday morning. The fire is reported to have grown to 2,671 acres, helped by strong winds pushing the blaze to a nearby lake and canyon. The fire burned around the Thunder Ridge Boy Scout Camp, but the facility suffered only "minimal damage" thanks to the efforts of fire crews battling the flames throughout the night. The fire began about midday Saturday, and was 15% contained as of Wednesday morning after strong winds combined with increasing temperatures made spreading conditions more favorable for the blaze.

The community surrounding Brian Head is still evacuated as crews fight the flames.
