Police have identified a man who was arrested in connection with a fatal shooting near the Murray Desert Star Playhouse on Sunday. Carl David Johnson, 56, was taken into custody by police Sunday afternoon, after authorities responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment complex. One victim was taken to a nearby hospital where they later died. The name of that victim has not yet been released, pending family notification.
Johnson was reportedly drinking alcohol with his neighbors when he and the victim began to argue. The argument got worse and the victim ended up being wrestled to the ground. After getting up, Johnson went into the apartment building and returned a short time later with a handgun. Johnson then shot the victim and kicked him in the face repeatedly after he fell to the ground, according to what witnesses told police.
