Alleged kidnapping attempt in St. George

The St. George Police Department is looking into a report of an alleged kidnapping attempt, that took place at a Target retail store Wednesday afternoon. Around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, an unidentified woman was involved in a "very suspicious incident" involving a 2-year-old boy at the store according to a police report about the incident. The boy's mother, Allyson Barlow, says she had been in the children's clothing section and had turned around for a second, only to discover the woman making off with the stroller and child when she turned back around. When confronted the woman apologized, but wouldn't take her hand off the stroller. She then allegedly touched Barlow on the arm and said "I'm so sorry. I have no idea what I was doing."

The woman followed Barlow for a brief moment before Barlow exited the facility. Barlow says that security footage shows that the woman had been walking along and stopped when she noticed the child, left her cart in the middle of the isle, and tried to take him. The woman is described as being 50-60 years old, with short brown hair and a nose piercing.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the St. George Police Department at 435-627-4300 and reference incident No. 17P013312.
