18-year-old dead following Magna shooting

An 18-year-old man was shot and killed Thursday in Magna. The man had been attending a party at a residence when a vehicle drove up in front of the residence. According to police two men inside a Sedan began talking to the victim, before firing several shots. The victim was shot "an undetermined amount of times," but made it back inside the resident before collapsing and losing consciousness. Despite efforts to save him, the victim later died of his injuries at the hospital.

Investigators with Unified police say they do not believe this was a random act, and that the men responsible came to the residence looking for the victim. While they haven't ruled out the possibility of the shooting being gang related, police say that so far that does not appear to have been the case. The attendees of the party are still being interviewed by police, but given the large number of people who attended it may take some time before investigators have finished collecting statements from all the witnesses.

The victim has not been identified, pending notification of the family.
