Will This July be as Hot in Salt Lake as a Year Ago?

Posted Tuesday, July 1st 2014 @ 10am

WITH THE ARRIVAL OF JULY, LOTS OF EYES WILL BE ON THE THERMOMETER, TO SEE IF THIS YEAR IS AS BRUTALLY HOT AS JULY, A YEAR AGO.

WE NEARLY SET A SALT LAKE RECORD -- IN JULY 2013 -- WHEN THE TEMPERATURE REACHED OR EXCEEDED 100 DEGREES 13 TIMES, IN THE MONTH.

WEATHER WATCHERS AREN'T EXPECTING THAT MANY 100 DEGREE DAYS THIS YEAR... THOUGH THEY DO SAY THE FIRST ONE COULD ARRIVE THURSDAY.

ON AVERAGE, SALT LAKE REACHES 100 DEGREES OR HIGHER JUST 4 TIMES, EACH JULY.

UTAH FIREFIGHTERS ARE CONCERNED THE HOT TEMPERATURES COULD MAKE FIGHTING FIREWORK FIRES EVEN MORE OF A CHALLENGE THIS WEEKEND.
