Lawmakers Again Debate the Infamous 'Zion Curtain'

Posted Wednesday, March 5th 2014 @ 12pm  by Talk Radio 105.7 FM / 570 AM

ANOTHER BOOZE LAW IS GAINING TRACTION -- ON UTAH'S CAPITOL HILL -- DURING THESE FINAL FEW DAYS OF THIS YEAR'S SESSION.

REPRESENTATIVE KRAIG POWELL'S MEASURE WOULD ALLOW RESTAURANTS -- THAT SERVE MIXED DRINKS -- TO REMOVE THE CONTROVERSIAL "ZION CURTAINS" THAT KEEP BARTENDERS OUT OF SIGHT.

TO DO SO, THE HEBER CITY REPUBLICAN SAYS, THEY WOULD SIMPLY HAVE TO POST NOTICES, WARNING CUSTOMERS THEY WILL SEE ALCOHOL BEING MIXED.

A HOUSE COMMITTEE PASSED THE MEASURE OUT, ON A NARROW VOTE.

BUT IT WILL STILL REQUIRE FULL HOUSE AND SENATE APPROVAL, AS WELL AS GOVERNOR HERBERT'S SIGNATURE.

AND, WITH JUST SEVEN DAYS LEFT IN THIS YEAR'S SESSION, SUPPORTERS ADMIT THEY MAY SIMPLY BE OUT OF TIME.
